SPNM Scholarship Program

Each year the Harvard Business School Club of South Florida awards scholarships to local area non-profit leaders to attend a special executive education program, Strategic Perspectives in Non-profit Management (“SPNM”), at the Harvard Business School (“HBS”) campus in Boston. This flagship course in the Business School’s Social Enterprise Program is designed for the top executive in the non-profit sector and consists of seven days of intensive training.  The Strategic Perspectives for Nonprofit Management Executive Program offers a unique opportunity for non-profit leaders to rethink their vision and to improve the effectiveness of their organizations. Attendees develop a strategic outlook to improve the effectiveness of their organizations by understanding core management concepts; applying these concepts strategically; and learning how to implement change within the organization.

The HBS Club of South Florida alumni are very active in South Florida and contribute in different ways.  The club re-launched the Business Statesman Dinner in 2004 with 2 objectives:

  • Honor an exceptional business leader
  • Raise funds to give back to our community by sending leaders of local nonprofit organizations to the Harvard Business School

Thanks to funds raised in past events and the contributions of several corporate sponsors and HBS alumni, 19 South Florida nonprofit leaders have attended HBS in the past 5 years.  Recipients of the scholarships have included:
