We are delighted to announce the relaunch of the Harvard Business School Club of
South Florida (HBSCSF) Community Partners (CP) program.
CP is a pro bono consulting and advisory service staffed by alumni members of
the HBSCSF to be provided to South Florida Nonprofit Organizations that are
seeking assistance with business and management issues. Small teams (a project
leader and 3 or 4 members) work together with the leadership and management of
those organizations on clearly defined projects.
By donating time and management skills, HBS alumni offer nonprofits access to
the kind of professional expertise they may otherwise not be able to afford. In
return our alumni volunteers are given the opportunity to serve the community in
which they live or work in a truly meaningful way.
The President or CEO and Board of Directors of the nonprofit organization play a
critical role in the success of CP consulting projects. The client organization
must be open and receptive to new ideas and solutions to its issues or problems.
It is important that its leadership invest the necessary time to meet with the
project team on an ongoing basis so it can be most effective. This involves at
the outset outlining the history and objectives of the organization, helping the
team understand the problem they should address and providing introductions to
the staff as well as immediate and easy access to any relevant data and
information.
CP tailors each project to the specific needs of the respective nonprofit
client. Projects have to be well defined with a clear scope and an expected
duration of three to four months.
If you are an organization interested in participating in this program, please
complete the Community Partners Project Application form and send it
before January 31, 2010 to:

The HBSCSF will review the applications and make its first selection by March
31, 2010, based on the characteristics of the organization and the proposed
project. This will be followed by meetings with the leadership of the selected
institutions in order to better understand the project goals and discuss the
consulting process.
This will result in the final selection of the nonprofit organizations that will
participate in the 2010 program. The HBSCSF will then introduce these client
organizations and projects to be pursued to our alumni volunteers. The last
step will be to ensure the proper staffing of the teams, upon which the project
will be launched.
If you have any comments or questions, please contact Ricardo Newark who is the
Leader of the Community Partners activities (telephone 305-260-1656, email
ricardo.newark@xerox.com.)
Sincerely,
Daniel Kern Ricardo Newark
